The Mind & The Heart - A Conflicting Paradise

That little voice in my head kept saying, “You are not cut out for this,” but my heart felt it passionately.

Have you ever battled the clash between your thoughts and your heart? It’s tough, isn’t it? That internal tug-of-war can leave you feeling stuck, unsure of which voice to trust.

At one point, I found myself in exactly that position. My mind had decided that entrepreneurship wasn’t for me. I didn’t believe I could embody the role of an “entrepreneur.” To make matters worse, I felt disconnected from my side hustle because I had started it for all the wrong reasons. It was like trying to rev up a car with a broken gas pedal—it just wouldn’t go anywhere. My mind completely took over, convincing me to pour all my energy into my 8-to-5, and my heart completely stepped back.

But then, fast forward to the beginning of 2025, something shifted. I attended several entrepreneurship workshops, and one, in particular, reignited my spark. The key takeaway? “Fall in love with the problem.” That one simple phrase planted a seed of inspiration. It reminded me that progress often comes from small, consistent realizations—like grains of sand accumulating into a full cup.

...anchoring yourself in the present moment.

That’s when the iteration of my business into SHORTkrst began to click. The brand, the message, the efforts—everything aligned in a way that made my heart and mind truly happy. More than that, it reignited my passion. My heart started leading again, and this time, my mind chose to follow.

In exploring how to bridge the gap between the mind and heart, I discovered a simple yet powerful tool: anchoring yourself in the present moment. When negative thoughts spiral, grounding yourself in your heart’s positivity can bring clarity and calm. I’ve started using this technique a lot lately. While I don’t buy into overly dramatic solo pep talks, I’ll admit I’ve thrown in the occasional “You got this!” And honestly? It works.

If you’re wrestling with your own mind-versus-heart battle, I highly recommend this incredible TED Talk: Heart vs Mind: Master the Battle Within by Kate Glancey. It offers a refreshing perspective on finding balance between logic and emotion. Spoiler alert: after watching, you might just find yourself breaking up with your mind—at least occasionally—and for good reason.

So, the next time you’re caught between conflicting feelings, take a moment to feel your heart and let it guide you. Sometimes, it knows exactly what you need.
